Director of Human Resources (Corvallis/Salem)
JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Human Resources works with the Executive Team to oversee company business strategies and delivery of services, resource development planning, administration of policies that promote company culture and vision, and monitor the overall people processes and daily HR operations of the company. This role actively supports the effectiveness of management by evaluating performance and risk and by monitoring the financial and cultural health of the company. This position directly, and/or through the supervision of others, oversees legal and human resources services such as employment, compensation and benefits, employee relations & inclusion, supervisor training, and compliance with employment laws.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and; minimum of 5 years of experience in the following areas: Providing technical assistance and information in operational and HR areas of a business; interpreting policies; monitoring procedures and processes; using applicable computer proficiencies and data for business purposes; and at least 5 years of experience in human resources directly serving staff in the administrative functions of personnel programs.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, General Management, Labor Relations, or a similar people-management related field may substitute for 1 year of required experience. A Master’s Degree in the same related fields may substituted for 3 years of experience.
• HR experience in I/DD organization strongly preferred, but not required.
• SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
• Must be patient, a team player, and the ability to multi-task and interact with multiple agency
personnel.
• Must be able to pass a DHS background check and pre-employment drug screen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supports management by providing human resources direction, advice, and counsel.
• Ability to coach and mentor team members through the process of understanding the needs and responsibilities of human resources.
• Understanding of cultural norms, traditions, and working with diverse teams.
• Guides management and employee actions by developing HR guidelines, communicating the guidelines, and enforcing organization values.
• In collaboration with the Director at large, leads company's compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
• Serves as a primary point of contact for company’s benefits, insurance, and legal services providers.
• Establishes and maintains company records and reports; able to direct others in the organization and adherence to record-keeping guidelines.
• Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and management to a service organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company, driving the company to achieve business goals and objectives.
• Attend monthly board meetings and present HR updates regarding new hires, separations, FTE, department totals, and company totals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and implementation of the Human Resources department and directly supervises an HR Assistant; may also temporarily supervise employees offered light or modified-duty work in the office; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees in the Human Resources department; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Mostly indoor work environment with constant interruptions and demands.
• Working evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Frequent travel between Corvallis and Salem.
• Occasional remote work from home.
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
Salary - $5,714 - $6,028/month depending on experience
